92年のデビューから15年に渡って、米国R&B/Hip-Hop界を盛り上げてきた1人でしょう。
今年3月（米国、日本は5月）に13作目となるアルバム「Double Up」を発売。
リードシングルには、Bow Wowがオリジナルを歌う「I'm a Flirt」をRimix版としてリリース。（元々、オリジナルでもR.Kellyがメインで歌っているし。。）
タイトル通り、PVでも美女に囲まれて踊っている姿は、これまでゴシップネタも多かっただけにハマってますね。大人なプレイボーイといった感が。。でも4月に発生したバージニア工科大での銃乱射事件に対して、同アルバム内に収録される「Rise Up」についてネット販売での収益を寄付するなど、40歳の大人としての行動もできるようになったのかも。。

「I'm a Flirt」の他、5月にシングルカットされた「Same Girl」（Usherとのデュエット)
は、リズムカルな音と二人の掛け合いにより、スローテンポながら軽快なサウンドに仕上がってていい感じ。他は「Real Talk」「The Zoo」なんかもなかなか。
今作品ではHip hop色を強めているということだけど、でもやはり全体的にR&B系のアルバムといえるでしょうか。印象に残って気に入ったのは、シングルカットされた2曲だけど、どの曲も程よくまとまっているので、夜のドライブや酒を飲みながら語る時のBGMにいいかも。。
購入前にAmazonサイトで試聴できるけど、どうせならYoutubeでまずは全部聴いてみてから購入することをお奨め。お小遣いに余裕のある方は即買いでも良いかと。。
逆に2月にリリースのシングル「Go Getta」(Young Jeezy featuring R. Kelly)なんかは、Young Jeezyの色で作られ、かなりぐりぐり押してく感じの強い曲。でもこういう感じも好きだなぁ。
過去を遡れば、03年の「Ignition」、04年の「Wonderful」 (Ja Rule featuring Ashanti R. Kelly)、1998年の「I'm Your Angel」 (featuring Céline Dion)などなど、キャリアが長いだけに、他にも沢山の名曲も残してます。

キましたニッケルバック！既にかなり有名ですが。。
カナダ出身の4人組ロック・バンド。
ボーカルでギターリストでもあるChad Kroeger / チャドは、カナダ中西部の田舎町Hanna（アルバータ州にあるハンナという町）の出身。74年生まれの32歳。
95年から兄のマイク（ベース）やいとこのブランドン（初代ドラマー）、となり町出身で幼馴染のライアン（ギター）と活動を開始。

バンド名の「Nickelback / ニッケルバック」は、マイクが地元のスターバックスでバイトをしていたときよく言っていた言葉「Here’s your Nickel Back（はい、お釣りの5セント。）」が由来とのこと。
「HESHER」（97年）の自主レーベルからスタート。積極的なライブ活動と彼らの曲がラジオで流されることから人気が出て、90年代末にはカナダでメジャーに。
実質のファーストアルバム「THE STATE」を2000年にアメリカで発売。精力的なライブ活動から米国でも人気が出始め、60万枚のセールスを記録。

セカンドアルバム「SILVER SIDE UP」に収録され、アルバムよりも先行して発表された
「How You Remind Me」がBillboard で4週連続1位となるロング＆ビッグヒット。またアルバムは全米で500万枚以上、世界で1000万枚以上を発売する記録的なものに。ヒットシングル「Someday」（このPV、まだ見てない人は是非見てね！）を含む3rdシングル「THE LONG ROAD」も全世界で600万枚超。

4枚目の現行アルバム「All The Right Reasons」は05年10月に発売、既に1年半（84week）を超えているのに、Billboardのアルバムヒットチャートで現在も20位前後をキープ。現時点ですでに700万枚超のセールス。
爽やかアコースティックでメロディも聴きやすく、でもチャドの渋いハスキーボイスとよくマッチしている「Photograph」からシングルがスタート。

ロイド 本名Lloyd Harlin Polite Jr. 86年生まれの21歳
アトランタ出身。公式サイト

96年（10歳）の時、4人組みのボーイズバンド・N-Toonでデビュー。
その後2004年にソロで再出発。Ashanti/ アシャンティとフューチャリングしたファーストシングル「Southside」がヒット。その後06年に「You」がビッグヒットとなり、続く最新シングル曲である「Get It Shawty」も、かなりまったりメロディでいい感じ。
基本的にソウルフルなバラード調でメロディを聴かせる曲たちですね。歌声もメロディの一つと考えて聴いた方がよいかも。

見た目カッコいいので、PVとか映像見ながらだったら、あのナヨ系ファルセットボイスもセクシーで雰囲気があっていいんでしょう。細系マッチョのキツめな顔立ちであの高音で歌われると、そのギャップはきっと良い評価となるはず。ただ曲を聴くだけだと、人によって好き嫌いがでるかも。。

裏声じゃない気もするけど、ど〜なんですかね。ただN-Toon時代よりも、さらに高音であることは間違いなし。とはいえ、メロディはかなりいい曲が揃ってますよ。
スクリーモ系のKeisha Cole / キーシャコールが実質歌ってるLast Nightと一緒に聴けば、バランスがとれてちょうどいいかな。。

アルバム「The Price of Fame」からの2ndシングル。元彼女 Ciara のことを思って書いた詩といわれてます。

Bow Wowはオハイオ州の首都コロンバス出身 87年生れの20歳。
6歳の時に、コロンバスで行われたSnoop Doggのツアーに出演し。それがきっかけでSnoopのアルバム「Doggystyle」で歌うことに。
その後、13歳でキッズラッパーとしてSnoop DoggとフューチャリングしたBow Wow (That's My Name)やBounce With Meのヒット。これらの曲を含むアルバムBeware of Dogはダブルプラチナ級のビッグヒットとなる。この時、わずか13歳です！

TVやFilmでのキャリアもあって、02年からTVのコメディドラマに出演したり、最近では、ワイルドスピードX3 TOKYO DRIFTにもトウィンキー役で好演してますね。

05年頃から曲に恵まれたんでしょう。アルバム「Wanted」や「The Price of Fame」など、全体的にメロディがすごくいい感じですよね。さすがJD(Jemaine Dupri ）プロデュースなのか。。

近年、大波にのってるAKONです。
最新のシングルは「Don't matter」。セカンドアルバム「Konvicted / コンヴィクテッド」からのサードシングル。
スローでスムース・メロウで爽やか、癒し系な心地よいAKONの声を堪能できる曲。
（個人的には、クールな「Locked Up 」や「Smack That」「I Wanna Love You 」もお奨め。）

ミズーリ州セントルイスの出身。81年生まれの25歳。
7歳まで西アフリカのセネガルで育つ。その後アメリカとセネガルに交互に暮らした後15歳で渡米。十代の時には、強盗とドラックディーラーの罪で刑務所に数年勤める経験も。
その刑務所で音楽について考え始め、ストリート・刑務所での経験から「 Locked Up 」やファーストアルバム「 Trouble 」を制作。露骨な表現からの批判もあったけど、「Konvicted」では多少マイルドに。。

父親は有名なジャズ・パーカッショニスト。父親の影響を始め、レゲエやソウル、ロック、 ヒップホップなど音楽的バックグラウンドは幅広い。西アフリカのジャンベやアフリカンドラムを学び、またR&B・ヒップホップ・レゲイがミックスされ、ジャンルの枠に捕らわれないAkonのオリジナリティ溢れる音楽。シンガーソングライターと共に名プロデューサーでもある。現在はアトランタが拠点。
